“Rare”

Reuters talking about Tim Cook’s apology for Apple’s China warranties:

With its rare apology, Apple Inc went from pariah to praiseworthy in the eyes of China’s state-controlled media, a lesson for other foreign firms not to underestimate the speed and power of the government press.

I’d take issue with the third word.  Apple appears to apologise more than many (any?) companies in Apple’s position that apologise as often as they do.

Mobile Me, iCloud, Apple Maps, Antenna Gate, Working Conditions in China… Apple apologised (and addressed, or continue to address) for them all.  And in many cases, the apology was probably unnecessary.  Media pressure that focused on the smallest flaws whilst allowing competitors to repeatedly ship junk forced Apple’s hand.
