Pathetic

Microsoft enlisted former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Rob Schneider and disgraced baseball star Pete Rose to denigrate Google Docs in two new videos that posted to the Web Friday.

Watch the videos, and try not to cringe.  Then shower to remove the sense of desperation that will rub off on you after reading the accompanying blog posts.

It’s also amusing reading the comments on Microsoft’s Posts, with actual users of Office and Office 365 complaining about the poor implementations of the very features they’re trying to promote.

N.B  Apple have often accused Microsoft of copying them, poorly (remember the “Redmond, start your photocopiers” WWDC ’04 slogan and the Bertrand Serlet talk in 2006?).  These ads are a poor copy of the “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC” adverts that Apple ran a few years ago.  But instead of Justin Long and John Hodgman, both charming and likeable, they’ve gone with Rob “universally hated” Schneider and Pete “tax evasion” Rose.  Who the hell signs off on these things, and has all common sense and good taste completely fled Redmond at this point?
